Hardware and software equipment

Ordering IT equipment

Your research group coordinator will reach out to you before your arrival regarding ordering the IT equiptment you need.

We are legally bound to certain purchasing agreements that change every couple of years. Ordering your equipment through the Nat-Tech webshop adheres to these purchasing agreements. Please do not order equipment outside the proper channels.

As an employee at AU, you have to use the IT webshop to order IT equipment such as computers, tablets, phones, software, etc.

You can take a look at the webshop here

Software

AU has a long list of software agreements and number of free programes for AU employees to download for free.

See the lists and get more information here

Getting a personal webpage

It is possible to get a personal webpage like https://cs.au.dk/~USER by contacting aarhus.st.it@au.dk and tell them what “USER” (in https://cs.au.dk/~USER) you would like to have.

To get access to the webserver, you need to log in (using, for example, scp or WinSCP) at linuxapp.au.dk (using auXXXXXX as username and your usual password) from the AU network (possibly via VPN). Your web-files are then in /var/www/auXXXXXX/public_html/.

More documentation here (Danish only, unfortunately): https://medarbejdere.au.dk/administration/it/vejledninger/dataopbevaring/tilde-hjemmesider

Please ignore the part about the URL being “tildeweb.au.dk/auAUID” – always use https://cs.au.dk/~USER instead.

WiFi at AU

You can access AU’s wifi "eduroamwith your AUID or select the wireless network "AU-Guest".

For more information on how to set up WiFi, see https://medarbejdere.au.dk/en/administration/it/guides/network/wirelessnetwork/

On this webpage you will also get information on AU GAdget, a wireless network for research equipment and devices.

VPN access

When you log on to the virtual private network (VPN), it’s like working on a computer at AU: you have the same level of protection and access to local services. In other words, your internet connection is encrypted, which makes it invisible to anyone who might want to intercept your data.

For more information, see https://medarbejdere.au.dk/en/administration/it/guides/network/vpn-remoteaudk

Printer set-up

To get a guide to set up the printer, see https://medarbejdere.au.dk/en/administration/it/guides/print/

CS-email

Shortly before your arrival, you will receive an e-mail from "No-reply, Aarhus Universitet" with information about how to create your email address and password.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your research group coordinator.

Employee broadband

The employee broadband policy at AU is that employees who are offered fixed-line broadband must, if possible, use TDC as services provider. Regarding mobile broadband AU uses Telenor as services provider.

You will need the approval of your superior to get employee broadband.

Read more about how to order broadbadn here or ask your research group coordinator.

Access card

You can order your own access card. It's important to have a picture to upload when you order the card.
Ask your research group coordinator for information about building and room number. Your card will be delivered to the department and you can find it in your mail box next to the Information Office. You will get an e-mail with the code for your card.

When you receive your card, you need to activiate it. You do so by sening an e-mail to cardaccess@cs.au.dk with card number
