Best - pathway to impact - Paper Award at NeurIPS workshop
Congratulations to PhD student Rafael Pablos Sarabia and Professor Ira Assent, who, along with their co-authors from Cordulus, have received the Best Paper Award at the NeurIPS 2024 Workshop on Tackling Climate Change with Machine Learning for their research paper: "Multi-Source Temporal Attention Network for Precipitation Nowcasting"
Their innovative research introduces a deep learning model capable of predicting rainfall up to 8 hours in advance with greater accuracy than current operational models. By leveraging multi-source meteorological data and physics-based forecasts, the model provides high-resolution predictions in both time and space, helping industries and communities respond effectively to evolving weather conditions.
As climate change presents complex challenges, this research showcases how machine learning can contribute to adaptation and mitigation efforts, paving the way for impactful, real-world applications.
