Master's Applications: Growing International Interest and Improved Gender Balance
The application deadline for master's programs has just passed, and our master’s programmes in Computer Science and IT Product Development have received 662 applications, with 508 applicants selecting the department as their first-priority. Once again, there is a significant increase in international applicants, as well as a continued positive trend in the number of female applicants.

More International Applicants
Over the past five years, international applicants have shown a strong interest in these programmes. In the Computer Science master's programme, the number of EU applicants has risen from 109 in 2021 to 190 in 2025, while the number of non-EU applicants has increased from 90 to 268 in the same period. A similar trend can be seen in IT Product Development, where EU applicants have grown from 12 to 24, and non-EU applicants from 9 to 29. This positive development in international applications is likely linked to the department’s high international rankings in key computer science research areas, as well as a targeted effort to recruit international students, which began in 2017.
More Women Applying
The application numbers also reveal another positive trend: an increasing share of female applicants. In Computer Science, the number of women applying has nearly tripled from 62 in 2021 to 162 in 2025. IT Product Development follows the same pattern, with female applicants increasing from 13 to 28 in the same period. Overall, the number of female applicants across both programs has grown from 75 in 2021 to 190 in 2025. Interest in IT programs among women appears to be particularly high among international applicants, who make up approximately 86% of the female applications to the department’s programmes.
This development in applications contributes to a rich international environment and increased diversity within the department’s programmes, strengthening the academic community and bringing broader perspectives to technological development. The received applications will now undergo academic evaluation, and admission decisions will be sent out between May 1 and June 10.
The application deadline for quota 2 admission to the bachelor's programs is March 15. The department is the first in Denmark to offer international bachelor's programs in Computer Science and IT Product Development. Naturally, we hope that the strong application numbers for our master’s programmes indicate a trend that will also be reflected in applications for the new bachelor's programmes.
