The Danish Women in Science awards were launched in 2007 by L’Oréal in partnership with the Danish national commission for UNESCO and the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters. The purpose of the program is to put a spotlight on women in science. Since the launch, 36 promising scientists have become part of the For Women in Science network.

On May 2, Sophia will receive the award from the minister of higher education and sciences Christina Egelund at a ceremony at the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters in Copenhagen. On May 4, the three award recipients will give a talk about their respective research.
