Entrepreneurial students at CS

One of our goals at Department of Computer Science is to support entrepreneurial activities of our students and recent graduates. The Department runs a local student entrepreneruship Hatchit Lab, which is part of the larger AU student entrepreneruship eco-system centrered around The kitchen

Below you can find a selection of student startups founded or co-founded by students who either have a Master’s degree in Computer Science or a Master’s degree in IT Product Development at Department of Computer Science.

SELECTED START-UPS

Appdictive

Three former students in IT Product Development - Tobias Alrøe, Jesper Rasmussen and Rune Haugaard - are the creative minds behind the startup Appdictive. The company, that started as a hobby in 2013, are now developing android apps to a large number of customers in the manufacturing, healthcare and entertainment sectors. Ceptu

Ceptu aims to build easy-to-use services for the agricultural industry. Founded in 2014 by a group of computer scientists, the startup combines state-of-the-art satellite technologies with the ubiquity of smartphone, tablet and web applications. Ceptu's team (comprising of both former and current students from Department of Computer Science) works intensely to bridge the gap between research and the practical application of farming technology.

The company's app FieldSense helps farmers throughout Europe for the coming cultivation seasons, as described in this business case (november 2016). In 2016, Fieldsense were mentioned as a business case in the Danish Space Strategy launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science. With a mixture of skills and experience in computer science, information technology, product development, strategic management and communication, Ceptu are committed to continuously improving their services and products.

Montem

MONTEM is a product development agency specialised in Internet of Things and smart consumer products. MONTEM design and develop products with and for the end-user in mind, based on current trends within research.

The people at MONTEM (Anders Høedholt and Christian Østergaard Laursen) have a strong interdisciplinary background in Computer Science and Product Design from Aarhus University and Aarhus School of Architecture.

MONTEM currently reside in Hatch It Lab - a locally based IT entrepreneurial environment targeting students in IT City Katrinebjerg. Hatch It Lab is based at Department of Computer Science at Aarhus University.

BioRemind

BioRemind is a digital refreshing to an analogue industry: By providing a platform for psychologists and therapists who wish to provide their treatment strategies digitally to their clients. The psychologist can fast and easy subscribe a customized app with their own content so the strategy is right at hand when the help and support is really needed.

The company currently resides in Hatch It Lab - a locally based IT entrepreneurial environment targeting students in IT City Katrinebjerg. Hatch It Lab is based at Department of Computer Science at Aarhus University.

Creative Vikings

Creative Vikings is a software company that helps clients with innovation and digitization. We are passionate developers, who use modern hybrid technologies to offer tailored solutions on all major platforms, including web, iOS and Android.

The people behind Creative Vikings share a educational background in IT-product development at Department of Computer Science.

Corro

Corro offers a solution for organizing marketing activities, creating social media content and publishing it with the flexibility kanban boards provide. The three people behind Corro (Mikkel Dahl Bertelsen, Jens Erik Krogsgaard and Anders Gade) share a background in IT-product development at Department of Computer Science.

Corro was founded in 2015 on the basis of a study project on how companies can organize marketing activities. Their tool for project management and social media publishing gathered 200 pre-launch signups in august 2015.

Bagvendt

Bagvendt is a software company founded by Stephan Sloth and David Andersen, both Masters in IT-product development at Department of Computer Science.

 “We make software. In short, you should pay us to make software that makes your business better. Together we knock your competitors back to the 90s”, says David Andersen.
