Aarhus University has received 15,582 applications via quota 2 this year, which is an increase of 9% compared to 2019. A 9% increase is also seen in AU’s number of first-priority applicants where 5,802 has chosen a study program at Aarhus University.
The increase in the number of first-priority applications is seen across the university's five faculties, but in particular AU's IT programs have had a significant increase. Specifically, 138 applicants have chosen Computer Science, data science or IT-Product Development as their favorite program at Aarhus University, which is almost 25% more than last year. This is great news for both the university and the Danish IT industry, who are desperate in the search of new IT talents for their open positions.
“Society needs technical and scientific IT competencies at the highest professional level, and Aarhus University is investing in increasing the capacity to recruit and train even more IT specialists. We are happy that more young people are getting an interest in IT. Last year, we had significantly more female applicants than previous years, and I hope that the this year's great number of quota 2 applications indicates that the department can set a new admission record this summer, ”says Head of Department and Professor Kaj Grønbæk from Department of Computer Science at the University of Aarhus.
“Systematic is dependent on the education of strong IT specialists. Therefore, it is great news that more people have gained an interest in the IT programs. We work with design and development of IT systems for e.g. health care and education, which are vital social functions. In all our projects, there are exciting challenges in design of algorithms, development of complex IT systems or user-interfaces, and analysis of data,” says Head of People & Culture at Systematic, Rikke Rønnau.
The IT programs at the Faculty of Natural Sciences include computer science, data science and IT-Product Development. More information about all AU's IT programs can be found at https://bachelor.au.dk/laes-it.
The deadline for quota 1 applications is July 5, 2020.
