Title: ZK-SNARKs: A plethora of ideas guaranteed to upset cryptographers.
Abstract: There was a time when zero-knowledge proofs were designed in the standard mode, using falsifiable assumptions, and cryptographers across the globe were happy. Zero-knowledge was slow, completely unused, and theoretically beautiful. Unfortunately for theoreticians, a movement began to occur, where a number of our own learnt how to cheat. Zero-knowledge became faster, became useful, and theoretically repulsive. In this talk I intend to confess to a number of cheats and explain why they are tempting to practitioners.
About the speaker: Mary Maller is a cryptography researcher at the Ethereum Foundation. The Ethereum Foundation is visiting the Aarhus Crypto Group from April 4 to 6, 2022.
About the seminar: The Aarhus Crypto Seminars are weekly seminars open to everyone with an interest in cryptography research. This semester the seminars take place on Wednesdays in Nygaard-295 (building 3553, room 295), Finlandsgade 23, 8200 Aarhus N.
