The BDSI project (an acronym for User Driven Healthcare Innovation in Danish) strives to improve the quality of life for senior citizens by developing IT support for independent living in the home. The project is rooted in an innovation consortium including partners from academia, industry, public healthcare organizations, and senior citizen associations. Together, the consortium partners strive to develop an open healthcare infrastructure that can connect individuals and their homes with the health sector. A user-driven innovation process involving both senior citizens and healthcare providers will ensure that the requirements (both functional and aesthetical) of the users will influence the development of the health-related IT services.
