Jacob Markussen, who has graduated in IT product development at Aarhus University in 2012, has just received 1 million DKK from Østjysk Innovation. The money will be used to further develop his company, Ingenium Golf, which he started up while he was studying at Aarhus University. The company develops IT equipment for golfers.

Humans are gregarious by nature. But when do people constitute a flock and when are they simply random passers-by going in different directions? The answer to this question is extremely interesting because it can provide better opportunities for planning events, emergency services and smart control of buildings. And computer scientists at Aarhus University have now found the answer.

Five teachers are nominated for Teacher of the Year at the Department of Computer Science. Students from the department will in a vote decide the winner, who will be annoucned at Computer Science Day on May 18. The nominees are: Anders Møller, Eve Hoggan, Henrik Bærbak Christiansen, Kasper Green Larsen, and Kurt Jensen. Congratulations!

On Friday 5 September 2014 the Department of Computer Science celebrated the retirement of Sven Skyum.

Sven Skyum has been part of Aarhus University since 1965. In 1971 he became the first student at DAIMI(Datalogisk Afdeling i Matematisk Institut), the forerunner of the Department of Computer Science. In the following decades, he played a key role in a broad research field that helped to establish the strongest computer science department in Denmark. Now he has retired but he will continue as a reader in Computer Sceince.

Asger Feldthaus, student at Department of Computer Science, got through the eye of the needle and got a 3-month internship at Google in Aarhus with an opportunity to be close to the development of Google's new programming languages, Darts.

This year the total number of accepted Bachelor Students of 235 will mark a record intake, slightly increasing the level of 220-225 from the preceding three years.

The two former students, Morten Kragelund Holt and Jens Johansen, won DSfD's MA thesis award 2013. The supervisors at all computer science departments were allowed to nominate only one project, after which the winning project was appointed from among five nominees MA theses.
