Abstract
In this talk I will give you a whirlwind tour of my research on haptic interaction, from the basics of haptic perception to the exciting interaction opportunities provided by smart materials and fabrication. I will introduce the concepts of crossmodal audio and haptic feedback, and explain how we can enhance interpersonal communication with such concepts - for users with and without impairments. Lastly, I will discuss the potential of novel haptic optimisation and fabrication methods to enrich interaction for users with impairments.
