PITalk with Erik Grönvall: Configurations of care: Participation in diverse healthcare scenarios

Demographic changes together with the development of novel Internet services, tablets and other processing units/interfaces and sensor technologies available in people’s everyday lives have helped to create a trend within healthcare to push care out of the hospitals and into private homes and everyday life. Two examples of such home-based care activities are tele-monitoring and tele-rehabilitation.

In these scenarios there is typically a one-to-one relationship between the hospital and the patient at home.

Another commonly studied configuration of care connects patients through different forms of social networks, for example to raise an individual’s motivation to follow a treatment.

However, there are other forms of care network configurations that are much less reported on. This talk will present and discuss different forms of participation and care network configurations within home-based care. The presentation is based on work done by the presenter and co-workers in the last years.
