Unveiling the dark side of AI and the quest for truth (25% AI-generated title)
Abstract
A few years ago the question "Are smart devices really smart?"
would have a definitely negative answer, while today AI agents and Generative AI have exceeded any expectations. Yet, what at first glimpse seems astonishing technology reveals a large degree of fabrication, treachery, fragility, and black magic. Sadly, one of the sources of fabrication is the inaccuracies and biases in the data, which is hardly scrutinized before being employed in training.
In the quest for the truth, data exploration methods could reveal the fallacies of common knowledge sources, so as to unveil the darkness of the AI heart. Yet, the road towards the final prize is steep as the data river becomes wider and more perilous.
In this inaugural lecture, I will introduce my personal endeavour towards more reliable, interpretable, and fast approaches to navigate knowledge in its most natural form of data - graphs. This journey will illuminate the path and pave the way towards a more radiant future for AI.
