Note, this webinar will be held in English.

As HCI Pioneer Stuart Card once said: “Data Visualization should be for the mind, what cars are for the feet.” Yet, all too often, data visualizations are reduced to non-functional eye candy that does not yield the deep insights into the data that it could and should. In this informal yet informative talk, you are invited to go beyond the common understanding of visualization to present and monitor data and dive into visualization as a tool for interactive data exploration and analysis.

We’ll be looking at what type of problems data visualization is good at solving and what some of the most advanced visualization solutions look like. We’ll be talking about real-world use cases and where precisely the current cutting edge of research is in data visualization. Finally, you’ll be introduced to three little-known yet straightforward and effective visualization techniques that you can use immediately for time-oriented data.

The webinar will be the first step towards a 2-day workshop session in professional data visualization in the spring of 2024.

Host: Hans-Jörg Schulz, Associalte Professor, Aarhus University
