FAEST advances to round 2 in NIST standardization process

The FAEST project submitted to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standardization process for post-quantum digital signature schemes has advanced to round 2. Congratulations 🎉

From the initial 40 proposals submitted in June 2023, NIST has narrowed it down to 14, and we’re thrilled to see FAEST among them. FAEST, designed by a team including Associate Professor Peter Scholl and postdocs Lance Roy and Lennart Braun, aims to provide secure digital signatures resilient to quantum computing threats. Additionally, SQIsign - another Round 2 candidate - will benefit from contributions by Associate professor Diego Aranha and Marius Aardal, further strengthening our department's role in shaping the future of cryptography. More info on SQIsign: https://sqisign.org/

The NIST Post-Quantum Cryptography Standardization Process is crucial in developing algorithms that will protect sensitive information in a quantum-powered world. With FAEST and SQIsign, our researchers are contributing to a more robust cryptographic future.
