									<p><strong>Title:</strong> Softer Software<br> &nbsp;<br> <strong>Abstract:</strong>&nbsp;Modern software is not soft at all, and it is very difficult for even the competent user to shape it to their fitting. In this talk, I will present research on how to make software softer. I'll discuss how the concept of applications has become ubiquitous and completely taken for granted in modern computing. Software doesn’t have to be synonymous with applications, and there is great potential to be unlocked if we break out of them. In this talk, I will argue for a renewed focus on developing computational media and show the efforts we have undertaken to demonstrate how software can be made differently. I will, among other things, present past and present work on the Webstrates (webstrates.net) platform.</p>
