Internet Architecture
The Web has many layers:
our applications (JSP, Servlets, JWIG, Explorer/Netscape)
application layer
(HTTP) - GET/POST requests, URLs, MIME types
transport layer
(TCP) - reliable communication, client/server sockets
internet layer
(IP) - datagrams, IP numbers
physical layer
(Ethernet) - bits
- we will mainly look at the upper two.
