TERRAIN - Efficient Handling of Massive Heterogeneous Terrain Data

The goal of the project is to develop algorithms that are capable of (efficiently) processing the massive terrain datasets that are generated by modern sensor technologies (such as LIDAR). The algorithms will be used to dramatically speed up terrain data processing software, thereby leading the way for full utilization of the new sensor technologies. The project is performed in a close collaboration with a terrain data producer (COWI A/S), as well as terrain data users (environmental researcher at the faculty of agricultual sciences).
