Culture in Aarhus


  • ARoS, ARoS Allé 2: One of the biggest museums in the northern part of Europe. Enjoy the permanent and temporary exhibitions or take a walk in Your Rainbow Panorama with a scenic view of the city. 
  • Den Gamle By, Viborgvej 2: "The Old Town" was founded in 1909 as the world's first open-air museum of urban history and culture. Take a tour in the city as it looked from the 16th century and forward. 
  • Moesgård Museum, Moesgård Allé 15: A dedicated museum for archaeology and ethnography situated just out of Aarhus in the beautiful surroundings of Moesgård manor. The museum has recently been modernized and re-opened in new buildings in fall, 2014.


  • VoxHall, Vester Allé 15: A music venue in Aarhus that presents concerts with bands and artists covering many different genres. 
  • Train, Toldbodgade 6: One of the biggest indoor music venues in Denmark hosting many big artists, international as well as local. Also visit the night club or the lounge bar in the same building.   
  • Musikhuset (Concert Hall Aarhus), Thomas Jensens Allé: A culture venue in the middle of the city arranging conferences, concerts, musicals etc. 


  • Aarhus Theatre, Teatergaden: This theatre is the largest provincial theatre in Denmark built in the late 19th century. In the programme you will find classics as well as modern performances. 
  • Svalegangen, Rosenkrantzgade 21: A smaller theatre in the city centre with many modern performances. 


  • Godsbanen, Skovgaardsgade 3: With open workshops, studios, project rooms, theater stages, auditoriums, dance halls and much more, Godsbanen provides a space for all types of creativity. Take a look at their calendar consisting of many free events throughout the year, 
  • Tivoli Friheden, Skovbrynet 5: An amusement park situated in the middle of the forest in Aarhus. Friheden also hosts concerts every Friday night in the summer with popular Danish artists. 
  • Øst for Paradis (East of Eden), Paradisgade 7: A small underground cinema situated in the Latin Quarter that shows more unique and rare movies than the bigger cinemas in Aarhus does.
  • Deer Park, Ørneredevej 6: Enjoy a trip to the deer park south of the city center. The park is fenced, but you can enter the park and actually walk around among the deer for free. During the winter it is a perfect place for sledging and skiing.
