The Bioinformatics Group at the Department of Computer Science is part of the Bioinformatics Research Center (BiRC) at Aarhus University. BiRC is an independent inter-disciplinary research center under the Faculty of Science established in 2001 as a collaboration between the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Health Science. The researchers and students at BiRC have backgrounds in computer science, statistics, molecular biology, genetics and chemistry, and most have affiliations to other departments at Aarhus University, e.g. the Department of Computer Science.
