The prize is awarded annually to young researchers who have considerable potential for following in the footsteps of the two pioneers.

Associate Professor Ernst won the prize for his research into object-oriented programming, and he is also acknowledged for his significant work in the international world of computer science. His research is mainly concerned with the design, implementation and static analysis of programming language.
The prize will be presented to Associate Professor Ernst at ECOOP 2010 – European Conference on Object-Oriented Programming – in Slovenia next July.
