Charter

The IT Committee (in Danish: IT-udvalget) is responsible for the computing equipment at the Department of Computer Science at Aarhus University, and for the strategic planning and the daily operations of the department's computer facilities for education and research.  Moreover, the systems committee is responsible for the human resource management issues concerning the technical staff members, and for the collaboration with external entities including other departments at the Faculty of Science, insofar as this is related to the above-mentioned equipment, planning, or daily operations.

The committee deals with the following issues:

  • The committee makes recommendations for the long-term, strategic planning of the computer facilities.
  • The committee makes recommendations for all major computing investments at the department.
  • The committee has the responsibility for the physical layout of the computing facilities for students, including furniture and decoration.
  • Through the chairman and the chief of staff the committee takes decisions on minor, everyday computer investments such as replacement of broken equipment, and minor new investments.
  • Through the chief of staff the committee takes care of the operations and the security matters of the computer equipment.

The committee has about ten meetings a year.
